Where do lexicons, domains, and blog posts live WRT atmospheric groups?

This is another follow up discussion from our most recent atmospheric groups working group meeting.

Domains and lexicons

We chatted about lexicon.community being the owning entity of whatever lexicon we end up using to define the group profile (still TBD if it’s this or something else) and/or XRPC methods.

There’s also a few options in terms of the actual domain used:

  • lexicon.community ← Could live here
  • opensocial.community ←I own this one, if we decide on this one I’d like to transfer the domain to lexicon.community as the official standard bearer of community lexicons :smiley:
  • community.at ← Not sure who owns this but this would be a cool one to track down if someone in the community has it!
  • muni.town ← I believe @zicklag.dev that this is what the arbiter uses?
  • Somewhere else??

I also want to be clear that I do not care either way :smiley: if we don’t decide on one I may go with opensocial.community, but I’m afraid of that ending up being the default just by nature of being one of the first ones to exist, so if anyone feels weird about that I don’t mind using something else!

Blog Posts

Another related topic, I’d love to post some blog posts about this effort because it is incredibly cool how many folks are getting involved in it, and I want to make sure all these thoughts and hard work are recognized! Where should blog posts live and be posted? Is there a good spot to highlight things coming from the community?

@brittanyellich.com there’s this cool thing called https://atmosphere.community where you could make a sub-community — our first non-regional one — and aggregate blog posts!

Okay, following up on this, I think my plan is to iterate with opensocial.community lexicons for now and then write my proposal for what shared lexicons might look like in the lexicon.community forum in this discussion. If I’m really good I’ll remember to post that post back here :smiling_face:

For blog posts, I think writing those on a standard.site blog and sharing them with the ATProto Devs community is probably the way to go! This is my perfect excuse to use pckt.blog since I haven’t started a blog on that one yet :smiley:

Yep. But muni.town is the name of community me and @erlend.sh are stewarding, so it may or may not be the best place to land a generic ATProto community standard.

I think I like community.at and atmosphere.community more than opensocial.community because they feel more ATProtocol specific. Open Social is just a little bit broad for something that is ATProto focused.
